My Little Family and I were fortunate enough to spend some time on Hamilton Island last weekend, gathering and celebrating with very close friends, who over time have become our Surrogate Family. Such an amazing location, practically just up the road, relatively speaking – we really are ‘The Lucky Country’! Getting to practice a bit of Landscape Photography was just an added bonus….
Between us, DH and I have travelled to many beautiful places in several different countries. We employ backpackers seasonally, who ask us about Australian locations, to which we have never been. Whitehaven Beach was one of these stunning tourist destinations of which we had only heard about and seen on ‘Getaway‘ and so we seized the opportunity to experience it for ourselves.
I’ve never felt such soft, fine powdery sand beneath my feet…. It got into absolutely every nook and cranny of our gear, and proved difficult to expose correctly when shooting, to accomodate its stark white colour in broad sunlight, but it was well worth it! Sand, sun, ocean, snorkelling, golf buggies, Pool Bar, Snickers Cocktails, fine dining, loads of options and most importantly, gorgeous people (inside & out) to spend time with :)
Of all the things we experienced at The Whitsundays, at the end of our stay, DD#2 wanted to take home with her the Golf Buggy which was our transportation for three days (we bought her the miniature souvenir version instead), DD#1 loved swimming at the Beach and DH would have packed the Ocean Views if he could. Me? I fell in love with this AWESOME RETRO BLACK & CHARCOAL SPOTTED OCCASIONAL CHAIR in our apartment….it would make an A1 Photography Prop and the light on the verandah with the contrasting striped weather boards as a backdrop was just perfect too!! Alas, try as I might, I just couldn’t get it discreetly onto the return ferry to Shute Harbour ;)
